What is Ready For Inclusion?

What does it mean to be Ready For Inclusion?

Our mission: Inspire hope in our disabled community with the integration of educational support, advocacy and informative research while contributing to the health and well-being of our families.

In order to accomplish our mission, we must prepare our families for their future. Providing them with a sense of readiness means assisting them with resources, education, advocacy, diversity and inclusion through the events and challenges they may face on a daily basis.

When Right Hand Angels was first created as a North Carolina support group in 2007 after the vehicle accident of my son Andrew, there were not many local resources available for people with traumatic brain injuries. The support was just not there. So I decided to create that support. I wanted families to have a place where they could come and share their experiences. Share their trials and hardships. Share their victories, their dreams and needs. Share their resources and the educational opportunities that were available to our families.

How do we prepare you to become Ready For Inclusion?

Resources

We provide resources for our angels, caregivers and family members by taking the time to research and learn about their different disabilities. Providing them with both local and national resources that are available within their region. We make it our mission to find the best resources for each individual situation, and help our family members gain access to these resources. Our representatives work diligently to help provide the most up to date resources and research information available.

Education

We provide educational opportunities through the informative research obtained and distributed to our families about the different disabilities and diseases they suffer from. We assist them in understanding how to be a STRONG advocate for not only their disabled family member, but also for themselves as a care provider. We help provide educational resources to our schools through the development of our Friendship Leadership Programs which helps to provide supports systems to our disabled students through the peer-to-peer groups that are established. We provide local and national information pertaining to other organizations within their communities through our blogs, social media posts, events and expos, with the hopes to inspire our families to join these organizations in an effort to help them live a healthy lifestyle.

Advocacy

Advocacy looks different for each angel! What may work for one family member, may not work for another. We understand this wholeheartedly! Because of this, we work hard to make sure everyone is heard and supported individually! Taking the time to listen and assist where assistance is needed. Supporting our families and leaders with life changing information that can assist in changing laws while protecting our family members so their lives don’t have to be anymore challenging than they already are. We connect our family members to local advocates, legal experts, community leaders and organizations that can assist them through their daily challenges. Encouraging positivity and enhancing the lives of our community members one step at a time.

Diversity

We value diversity and understand that one of the most overlooked minority groups to exist is the disabled community.  Our main goal is to create a space where everyone is welcome and valued for exactly who they are as an individual.  Our differences are what make us special and everyone has a place here.

Inclusion

For us, inclusion is the easiest part.  We plan on creating spaces that allow for anyone and everyone to be a part of Right Hand Angels. Through events, support groups, and even leadership positions everyone will have a place where they can connect and belong.

Through our mission we know we can make a difference in the world.  The only question left is.. Are you #ReadyForInclusion?

"Ready For Inclusion means being ready for anything that might come our way, and realizing that we cannot accomplish this alone. That together we can accomplish anything that might be before us. That we are not alone in this process. With the support of resources, education, advocacy, diversity and inclusion we are ready to remove ourselves from the sidelines, and into the active roles of our local community. Identifying in this world with our ABILITIES vice our inabilities to make a difference, while bringing hope and inspiration to others and maintaining a healthy lifestyle which is ALWAYS possible. #ReadyForInclusion"- Robin Totsch
